| HYIP - High Yield Investment Programs |
When it comes to investing, there are two important rules to follow:
If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is, and, Never invest more money than you can afford to lose.
What the heck is this HYIP thing?
Wikipedia describes HYIP as:
A High Yield Investment Program, or HYIP, is a type of pyramid scheme normally offered via the Internet. HYIPs typically accept deposits as low as $1 while promising astoundingly high returns..
Online HYIP schemes rarely last for the long term. Overwhelming number of cases suggest that HYIPs are Ponzi schemes, in which new investors provide the cash to pay a profit to existing investors, which they typically then withdraw. This approach allows the scam to continue as long as new investors are found and/or old investors leave their money in the scheme, known as compounding (because even higher profits are promised).
The introduction of e-currencies has made it possible for HYIPs to operate on the internet and cross international boundaries, and to accept large numbers of small investments. HYIPs usually accept deposits by either e-currency or use specialist third party payment processors like

HYIPs typically offer a significant incentive commission (for example, 9% of invested funds) for members to attract and refer new investors.
Most HYIPs disclose little or no detail about the underlying management, location, or other aspects of how money is to be invested, and relatively little information (other than asserting that they do various types of trading on various stock and other exchanges) on how they actually generate the returns they purport. They are sometimes presented with some form of an emotional appeal, appeals for faith, and promises that they will help investors achieve financial freedom.
Can you make money investing in High Yield Investment Programs and what should you know.
Yes but you must be careful. These programs are risky - some more than others.
If you are new to this type of investing, you need to spend time searching out all the rating sites first.
Many program owners are scammers. Their only will is to run with your money. There are more scams out there than serious long term programs.Over the years large amounts of people have lost their money as a result of being involved in High Yield Investment Programs or HYIP programs
Given the fact that the HYIP industry is a very risky one, most people are very hesitant when it comes to investing in HYIP's – which is legitimate. However, not being aware of the risks is the main reason why people are losing their money. There is a great number of cases where people have thought they’ve found an incredible opportunity and gladly invested their entire fortune. When the programs later went out of business, the consequences have been devastating.
To summarize, any HYIP program that involves offshore banks or investment groups, secret rules, unusually high interest rates, tax shelters, etc., should be avoided at all costs. Don't get involved with them in any way. Online HYIPs MAY be legitimate, but probably aren't. Remember the two rules we talked about at the top of this page: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is, and, Never invest more money than you can afford to lose. If you want to try an online HYIP, investigate first. Put the minimum amount in and see what happens over a period of 3-6 months. If the pay outs are consistent and on time, then maybe you have found a legitimate HYIP. Take the money and run scammers tend to close up shop within 6 months or so, when the money coming in tails off and the demands for late pay outs increase.
Good luck in your investing, and be very careful. Find out what is legal and what isn't before committing to any HYIP programs.
